Where lorem ipsum comes from
The text is a garbled excerpt of Cicero’s philosophical work De finibus bonorum et malorum (On the Ends of Good and Evil), written in 45 BC. A 16th-century typesetter is thought to have scrambled it to make a type specimen book, and it has been the industry’s default filler ever since: through letterpress, desktop publishing and today’s web design tools.
